NATURE

Commercialism led by conscience. For every purchase of our coffee, you are helping to preserve the ecological richness of our farms. Much of the coffee in the world is grown using monoculture technique of clearing the land by cutting all the trees and planting high production hybrid coffee varieties. Cafe Ruiz and our friends (small-scale family farms) choose the shade-grown coffees; coffee that is grown beneath the trees. While this method does not produce as high a yield, the combination of shade trees and coffee plants provide food and shelter for migratory or resident birds and other species of animals.

PEOPLE

We recognize that people is the key to success and the survival of our endeavour. Therefore Cafe Ruiz supports activities promoting the recognition of the different cultures involved. We are not just profit motivated but we take into account our social responsibility.

We provide permanent support to the Ngäbe Literacy Programmes and direct support to members from or outside our community that are in need of a helping hand. We provide an opportunity for education in this industry branch as well as pursuing to entrust all its participants with necessary tools that help their self-realisation. Casa Ruiz, S.A become the first Panamanian coffee producer to received in 2000 an ISO 9001 quality system certification and thanks to our firm environmental commitment by 2004 we received the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
